Job Summary Serves in a temporary position that enables an individual with their Ph.D. to continue their training as a researcher and gain skills and experience that will prepare them for their research career in academia or elsewhere. The postdoc can perform mostly independent research, collaborate on a multi‑scholar research initiative, or have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger research project or program, all while under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher. This opportunity has an anticipated duration of 2.5 years.

Department Overview This fellowship will be housed in the Electronic and Neuromorphic Devices and Systems Laboratory of Professor Kurtis Cantley in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Essential Functions

60% of time

– Research leadership, cross‑disciplinary integration, scientific impact, collaboration, professional development, mentoring, advanced electrical characterization, student leadership, grant proposal writing, industry collaboration, technology transfer.

35% of time

– Problem‑solving research challenges, contribution to larger project components, documentation, data management, analysis, model evaluation, proposal and report assistance, teaching assistance.

5% of time

– Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic – Legal eligibility, teamwork, communication, scientific writing, reproducible data, critical eye, time management, mentoring, safety advocacy.

Preferred – Integrated CMOS circuit design, neuromorphic architecture design, electrical testing, Python programming, semiconductor memory device modeling.

Minimum Qualifications Requires a minimum of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with spiking neural network design and simulation.

Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and mentor students.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Publication record in peer‑reviewed journals or conference proceedings.

Expertise in integrated CMOS circuit design, neuromorphic architecture design, electrical testing, Python programming, semiconductor memory device modeling.

Salary and Benefits Salary range is $55,057.60 to $65,000.00 annually. Boise State University provides a best‑in‑class benefits package including paid holidays, vacation days, retirement contributions, medical and dental coverage, tuition fee waiver, and full benefits information.
