The ideal candidate will be ambitious, eager to learn, take pride in their work and enjoy building a great team that functions as a unit. Your team will include four existing full-time employees as well as enough returning and new-hire seasonal employees to maintain a high level of quality to the golf course and surrounding property.

Retired mowing staff of 8-9 employees
Younger project & maintenance staff of 8-9 employees
Responsibilities
Course Set-Up: Complete the daily set up of an 18 Hole Golf Course to ensure playing conditions meet company and USGA standards.
Project Management: We are in the process of evaluating some large-scale drainage & irrigation replacement projects that will require working with outside vendors to evaluate, schedule and participate in their execution. This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the long‑term planning of Western Lakes.
Operations: Coordinates operations with the club manager and golf professional. Participate in all short and long‑range planning meetings. Prepares annual budget for the maintenance and capital improvement of course properties. Utilizes best practices when making purchases to meet budget goals and help reduce operating costs.
Personnel Management: Participate in and recommend hiring of golf course staff. Provide daily supervision including job assignments, performance appraisals, workforce development, and establishing priorities to ensure the success of the golf course maintenance department. Ideal candidate will understand the importance of working on the course, with the crew, to maximize training opportunities, productivity and efficiencies.
Golf Course Maintenance: Oversees day‑to‑day care and maintenance of golf course and native areas; develops and implements integrated herbicide and pest management plan. Safely manages tree removal, trimming and planting to meet the long‑term vision of the property.
Irrigation System: Maintains and controls Toro irrigation system to ensure proper course conditions.
Practice Facility: Maintains practice facility to a high standard of use. Coordinates mowing & trimming schedule with Head Golf professional to limit golf ball loss. Tee box, chipping and putting greens receive the same chemical & fertilizer treatments as the golf course.
Clubhouse & Pro‑shop Exterior: Oversees day‑to‑day care and maintenance of extensive flower bedding, mowing, trimming, balcony and tent cleanup. Brings potential exterior building issues to attention of management.
Administration: Purchasing; inventory supplies; assists with project management and priorities; maintains logs and financial record‑keeping; prepares specialized plans, reports and audits; ensures relevant safety codes and regulations are followed.
Equipment Maintenance: Assists mechanic with inspection and maintenance of all equipment and tools related to performance of job duties.
Snow Removal: Manages snow plowing, salting, snow blowing, shoveling of Western Lakes parking lot and entrances.
Job Requirements
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Turf Management, Agronomy, or related field.
At least five (5) years of experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
Experience working with and repairing irrigation lines.
Wisconsin pesticide applicator license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
State of Wisconsin certification as a member of the WGCSA and GCSAA preferred.
Small equipment maintenance and tree removal experience also a plus.
