Energy Sales and Delivery Specialist Department: Energy

Reports to: Refined Fuels/Sales Manager

Location: Byron, IL

Salary: $60,000-$65,000 plus commission

Status: Exempt

Purpose and Summary Under the direction of the Energy Refined Fuels/Sales Manager, delivers and generates profitable energy sales in the assigned territory through target marketing, prospecting, cold calling, competitive analysis, and providing value‑added energy products, services, and recommendations. Ensures the credit worthiness of customers and promotes credit programs as marketing tools. This is a salary plus commission structured position.

Key Responsibilities

Develop new fuel and lubricant business within the assigned territory through prospecting, cold calls, referrals, and lead follow‑up while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers through regular communication and on‑site visits.

Provide value‑added energy products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects.

Establish a route delivery system, delivering petroleum products according to customer requirements in the assigned territory and schedule product deliveries to customer locations in a timely and efficient manner.

Conduct regular patron meetings on product and technical information.

Utilize target marketing and professional sales techniques including the FS sales interview road map, energy management programs, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects in an effort of promoting the FS brand.

Record sales or deliveries information on daily sales; prepare order forms and sales contracts.

Communicate marketing programs and distribute sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.

Adhere to and support the company credit policy, checking credit history of patron before making a sale, and explaining policy to new customers; collect accounts as needed according to company credit policy; promote the use of FS credit / Agri‑Finance as a sales tool.

Provide customer service using tank maintenance programs, tank monitoring programs, oil testing programs, etc. Follow up on all customer complaints and seek solutions in a timely manner and seek a "win/win" resolution.

Submit required reports promptly as requested by supervisor and communicate activities in trade territory on a regular basis.

Develop territory and competitive analysis to maintain a current knowledge of the marketplace and the competition.

Other Job Functions

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adhere to the uniform policy, and maintain the appropriate professional image.

Will be responsible for billing and inventory management for products delivered.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and 1‑2 years or more of sales experience.

Energy Management Specialist (EMS) certification or the ability to obtain one.

Understanding of all energy products along with sales ability/persuasiveness, face‑to‑face selling skills, assertiveness, tenacity/persistence, resilience, competitive adeptness, credit worthiness, and product proficiency.

Proven ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment.

Proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.

Demonstrated planning, organization, time management, and problem‑solving skills.

Demonstrated math skills and the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.

Demonstrated core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement.

Must be able to travel independently.

Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, sit, stand, crawl, climb and reach difficult areas as job demands.

Must be able to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug test, as well as random ordered tests.

Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered "normal."

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education in GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
