Job Overview
Personal Care Worker at Independence First provides personal care services to consumers.
Responsibilities
Assist consumers with getting in and out of bed.
Assist with toileting and incontinent care.
Assist with bathing or showering.
Assist with eating.
Assist with grooming (mouth, denture, hair, shaving, nail care).
Assist with dressing and undressing.
Care of eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Assist with mobility and ambulation (use of gait belt, walker, cane).
Perform simple transfers (bed to chair or wheelchair and reverse).
Skin care (excluding wound care).
Prepare and serve meals.
Light cleaning in areas used during personal care activities.
Change consumer’s bed linens and personal clothing.
Complete time sheets accurately and timely.
Document consumer’s condition as necessary, maintaining confidentiality.
Qualifications
Adequate training in personal care services, with documentation of training.
Previous experience may be accepted in lieu of formal training.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with the philosophy and concepts of independent living.
Good communication skills and ability to relate well to others.
Good past employment references.
Physical strength sufficient to perform required job tasks.
Dependable, honest.
Ability to work one‑on‑one and follow a written plan of duties.
