Position Summary Reporting to the Shipping Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk will coordinate the receiving and shipping of all incoming and outgoing product, materials, or supplies, ensuring the accuracy of shipping documents and the verification of receiving receipts with open orders. The role escalates major discrepancies to the Shipping Manager or Plant Manager.

Position Responsibilities

Check orders in the shipping box against the report and print missing items.

Review the system when orders are processed to print allocation of product and provide to the shipping manager.

Write special instructions on orders and ensure all markings or labels are recorded.

Create pallet labels for some outgoing shipments.

Receive calls from trucking companies to schedule pick‑up appointments.

Research freight rates and schedule necessary trucks.

Dispatch trucks.

Change product locations for inter‑company transfers.

Schedule daily phyto and USDA inspections.

Complete all paperwork for shipped orders and initiate shipping in the system.

Fax Bill of Lading to customers.

Coordinate product and paperwork for each division.

Distribute work to forklift drivers when necessary.

During the season, weigh truck in and out, obtain copies of paperwork, receive product into the system, schedule USDA inspections, and ensure samples were pulled correctly.

Follow all company safety, hygiene, and work rules.

Perform all other job‑related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Ensure compliance with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

High school diploma or state‑issued equivalency certificate plus 6 months of experience.

SAP experience preferred.

Proficient in MS Word/Excel at an intermediate level.

Data entry skills.

Strong organizational, prioritizing, and deadline‑meeting abilities while managing multiple ongoing projects.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety regulations relevant to a food processing plant.

Salary The pay for this role in the state of California is $23.67 per hour, based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
