Job Overview Direct Care Worker (Non-Meds) at Midwest Health, Inc. Provide direct care to community residents for activities of daily living, housekeeping, laundry, mealtime service, and other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

Assist residents in and out of bed, into wheelchair, and with gait belt.

Assist residents in bathing, dressing, undressing.

Assist resident to bathroom and provide perineal care as needed.

Take and record vital signs according to schedule and policies.

Assist residents to dining area for meals; may assist with feeding.

Strip bedding, replace with clean linens as scheduled.

Assist in personal grooming of residents.

Turn residents as needed when designated on care plan.

Clean bedpans and empty catheter bags.

Document and report information regarding residents as instructed; documentation must be completed prior to leaving shift.

Maintain medication room in clean and orderly manner.

Give shift report as required on resident status.

Provide housekeeping/cleaning services as required and scheduled by Executive Director (resident areas and common areas).

Provide laundry and linen service as required.

Perform minor maintenance and servicing on community equipment per instructions; monitor compliance to state and federal requirements (blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, fire safety).

Employee must be available to work rotating weekends and holidays.

Essential Job Duties & Physical Requirements

Regular worksite attendance.

Complete at least 12 hours of in-service education approved and required by community, Department of Human Services, and Department of Inspections and Appeals.

Complete Relias assignments on time.

Successfully complete skills check-off with RN annually.

Develop and maintain good working relationships with co‑workers and other departments.

Basic computer skills.

If required to operate motor vehicle for business purposes, complete requirements in Company Motor Vehicles policy.

Read, write, speak, and understand English.

Work beyond normal hours, weekends, holidays as necessary.

Assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Use transfer/gait belt or assistance when lifting or objects in excess of 25 lbs.

Primary Physical Requirements:

Lifting up to 10 lbs constantly.

Lifting 11 to 25 lbs constantly.

Lifting 26 to 50 lbs frequently.

Lifting over 50 lbs frequently.

Carry up to 10 lbs constantly.

Carry 11 to 25 lbs occasionally.

Carry 26 to 50 lbs occasionally.

Carry over 50 lbs occasionally.

Reach above shoulder height frequently.

Reach at shoulder height constantly.

Reach below shoulder height constantly.

Push/Pull constantly.

Hand manipulation: Grasping constantly; Handling constantly; Torquing occasionally; Fingering occasionally.

Twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing and balancing required.

Employees may be required to operate an automobile and various games.
