The
Workers Compensation Claims Supervisor
plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of high‑quality claims management services. This position provides daily leadership, direction, and oversight to adjusters, nurse case managers, and team assistants. The supervisor ensures compliance, accuracy, timeliness, and continual improvement across all claim handling activities, while also supporting team development and strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Review First Reports of Injury to assess coverage, compensability, red flags, and recovery potential.
Assign claims to adjusters and nurse case managers with clear instructions.
Conduct ongoing diary reviews and daily interaction with staff to ensure proper claim handling.
Maintain a claim closure ratio of 97% or higher.
Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to staff; assign mentors as needed for skill development.
Develop performance improvement plans and monitor progress.
Lead monthly team meetings and participate in supervisor meetings.
Deliver continuing education sessions, including case law updates.
Supervise and provide direction to the Team Assistant.
Ensure proactive communication with clients through monthly calls and quarterly claim review meetings.
Update and maintain client profiles.
Complete contact logs for all client interactions.
Address client concerns promptly and professionally.
Assist with No Record Mail research.
Ensure adequate coverage during vacations or extended employee absences.
Handle employee complaints and coordinate resolution.
Interview candidates for open positions.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership, including the Claims Manager, QA Manager, Training Coordinator, Director of TPA Operations, or Executive Vice President.
Skills, knowledge & expertise
Strong understanding of workers’ compensation law, rules, case law, and liability principles.
Solid knowledge of medical terminology and treatment procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to work on a computer for up to eight hours per day.
Prior supervisory or lead claims experience strongly preferred.
Client site meetings and presentations
Claims review meetings and visits
Seminars and CEU-accredited training
Coverage of hearings or mediations when needed
