Driver - Class B (Local)
Location: Vacaville, CA - Retail shop
How you will contribute and grow Safely and efficiently operate a commercial motor vehicle and deliver atmospheric, flammable, industrial gases and hard‑good products to customers by performing the following duties.
Compensation: $28.00/hr
Schedule: Mon‑Friday, 1st shift
Responsibilities
Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Responsible for identifying any safety and/or health hazards while in the workplace.
Maintain a safe driving record and appropriate driver’s license classification while operating company vehicles and equipment.
Loads and unloads service trucks with gas cylinders, containers and supplies for scheduled route deliveries as directed by dispatcher.
Makes deliveries in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction is met.
Ensures that all documents required to move and deliver the load are available and accurate.
Perform any non‑route delivery necessary to provide customers with products.
Maintains records promptly and accurately as required by the company and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Inspects vehicles for defects and safe operating conditions before each delivery (pre‑trip) and submit necessary documentation to report any defects or problems immediately.
Performs post‑trip delivery at the end of each shift.
Identify potential problems with cylinders and notify management in a timely manner.
Performs all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and complies with all federal, state, local and DOT regulations.
Collects, records transactions and submits all customer payments promptly to the manager.
Pulls orders from the warehouse as necessary.
Provides support to internal and external customers to maintain inventory and delivery needs.
All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.
Qualifications Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Length & Type Of Experience
Must possess a valid Class A/B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements.
Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years.
Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements.
No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at‑fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at‑fault accident in the last 3 years.
No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years.
Must be able to work in a drug‑free environment.
Be able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA’s)
Working knowledge of all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations for commercial drivers.
Must consistently demonstrate the ability to succeed in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent customer service and communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Possess the ability to read a map and follow directions to effectively navigate delivery routes.
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers.
Possess a commitment and desire to work safely and ethically.
DOT pre‑employment and random drug testing applies. Must be able to operate in a drug‑free workplace.
