Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is making waves in the Mid-Atlantic with our newest location in Spotsylvania, Virginia, expected to open late 2026. Our fifth resort will feature over 175,000 square feet of indoor waterpark fun, 900 family‑friendly suites, and a massive convention center.
Now Hiring: Executive Sous Chef
In this role, you would act as the right hand to the Resort Executive Chef while overseeing daily culinary operations across one or multiple outlets. You will manage a large team, ensuring efficient production schedules, maintaining inventory and quality controls, and collaborating closely with culinary and hospitality teams to deliver exceptional guest experience. With a focus on both creativity and operational excellence, this position demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, demanding setting.
Weekends, evenings, and holiday availability are a must.
Onboarding for this role will likely begin in Quarter 2 or Quarter 3.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and inspire kitchen teams to deliver high‑quality food across multiple resort outlets, including restaurants, banquets, and special events.
Ensure consistency and presentation standards set by our Corporate Food & Beverage team.
Manage daily kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory, food costs, and compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.
Support the Executive Chef in leadership, staff training, and problem‑solving, stepping in to maintain smooth operations as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
Five years of progressive culinary experience and five years of management in banquets, preferably within a hotel or resort with over 500 rooms.
Basic knowledge of P&L, food cost/inventory management, recipe costing, kitchen sanitation, and food safety regulations.
A culinary arts degree is preferred.
Prior experience with bake shop/pastry production is helpful.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful but not required.
