Overview
The Position Runs from March 1 Through November 30th 2026. The Assistant Golf Professional plays a key role in supporting the Head Golf Professional in all aspects of golf operations, with a strong focus on enhancing member and guest experiences through effective event setup, leading the Men's Club, and managing the Junior Golf program. This position combines hands‑on operational duties with leadership responsibilities, requiring a blend of golf expertise, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Experience Required
Associate in good standing, or a graduate of a PGA Golf Management (PGM) program.
Experience preferred by not required in golf operations, including tournament management, junior golf programming, and instruction.
Strong knowledge of the game of golf, including rules, etiquette, and fundamental techniques.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with golf management software (e.g., Golf Genius, BLUE GOLF) and Point‑of‑Sale (POS) systems.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays morning and evenings.
Essential Responsibilities
Tournament and Event Operations:
Assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of all member and external events and tournaments, including Men's Club events.
Assist and manage event setup, including course preparation, scorecards, pairings, proximity markers, and player communication.
Assist in the oversight of event day operations, ensuring smooth flow and timely completion.
Assist with post‑tournament duties such as scoring, prize distribution, and billing.
Men's Club Lead:
Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison for the Men's Club.
Organizes and manages the Men's Club's schedule, tournaments, and social events.
Facilitates communication between the Men's Club and the golf operations team.
Junior Golf Program Ownership:
Oakwood Junior Golf Program regularly has 40 to 50 participants over Three age groups.
Develops, implements, and manages a comprehensive Junior Golf Program, including camps, clinics, and instruction.
Creates engaging curriculum and instructional materials suitable for various age groups and skill levels.
Promotes the program to attract young golfers and fosters a positive and encouraging learning environment.
Coordinates with parents, ensures appropriate supervision, and tracks participant progress.
Creating a PGA Junior League Team strongly encouraged, leading to more possible income.
Expanding the Junior Programs total number of offerings during the season is a potential to greater compensation.
General Golf Operations:
Lead the golf shop staff and outside service team.
Assist with daily golf shop operations, including sales, inventory management, merchandising, and opening/closing procedures.
Manages tee sheet and ensures accurate tee time scheduling.
Maintains the golf car fleet, practice facility, and club storage areas.
Assists with managing the USGA Handicap System (GHIN).
Provides exceptional customer service and maintains a high level of visibility with the membership.
If daily commitments to the operations are satisfied, the associate can provide golf instruction.
