The Loan Assistant supports lenders and customers by assisting with loan processing, documentation, and inquiries. This role ensures smooth and efficient loan transactions by collaborating with the lending team to verify and prepare loan documents, maintain accurate records, and provide excellent customer service. The Loan Assistant plays a key role in supporting the bank's lending operations and building strong relationships with clients and co‑workers. Because of the need to work closely with lenders and customers, this is an in‑person, on‑site position.

Essential Functions

Assist commercial loan officer with new loan applicants, including interviewing clients when needed. Gather initial documentation necessary to make loan decisions, such as credit bureau reports, OFAC, lien searches, tax notices, order appraisals, and title commitments.

Prepare documents for commercial loan packets, including SBA, RBS, and other government programs and packages for closings, ensuring all necessary documents are in order and have been reviewed for completeness and accuracy.

Assist lender with loan closings and be prepared to close loans. Working on‑site during business hours is required to support customers and lenders.

Follow up on loan closing items such as tracking collateral and managing the customer portfolio.

Keep current on loan programs, lending regulations, procedures, and documentation and be a knowledgeable resource to lenders.

Assist customer/lender with file maintenance, portfolio maintenance, credits/debits to all accounts/loans as needed.

Assist lender with reports, scheduling, arranging events and lunches with customers and for bank meetings.

Assist commercial loan officer with marketing strategies, including customer calling program, cross‑selling other Citizens Community Bank products, and referring as appropriate. Monitor production numbers for the lending team on all calls, referrals, and sales for annual performance process.

Assist with loan operations functions such as importing documents, scanning, and document retention.

Process payments, construction loan draws and other transactions for our customers and carry out basic accounting functions.

Work with the lenders to clear technical and collateral exceptions.

Additional duties may be added as needs arise.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance to accomplish, among other things, in‑person contact with customers.

Regular, on‑site attendance during standard business hours is required to perform the duties of this position.

Provide superior internal and external customer service: demonstrate self‑governance, courtesy, and respect toward external and internal customers (all organization personnel).

Comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by the due date.

Represent in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility, and adaptability to meet bank and customer needs.

About You

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Customer service and sales experience

Banking experience preferred

Ability to work in a professional manner

Able to work quickly and accurately

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Proficient with keyboarding and computer applications

Organized and detail oriented

Moderate level of knowledge of loan documentation

Moderate level of knowledge of spreadsheets

Work Environment:

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be able to work extended hours or travel off‑site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency situation.

What We Offer Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
