Position Number: 00090A Department: Mail Center Location: Norfolk, VA Type of Position: Classified Type of Job: Full Time EEO Category: F Administrative Support (Clerical & Sales) Job Description: Responsible for sorting incoming mail for approximately 175 offices. Sorts and bundles all mail that is destined for departments on mail route. Delivers and picks up mail at various departments. Picks up and delivers mail to and from the U.S. Postal Service. Type of Recruitment: Knowledge, skills and abilities Demonstrated ability to operate a 3/4 ton cargo van to deliver and pick up mail at the U.S. Post Office and approximately 40 departments on and off campus. Demonstrated ability to sort incoming mail for approximately 175 offices. Demonstrated ability to acquire signatures for all accountable mail on route. Prepare off campus mail for postage. Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Postal Service regulations and rates. Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lift, pull and load 40

70 lbs several times a day. Special licenses, registration or certification: Valid driver's license and insurable driving record. Education or training: None Level and type of experience: Some experience in a customer service oriented environment. Additional Considerations: Several years experience in a Post Office or institutional Mail Center. Some customer service training. Conditions of Employment: Given the nature of the positions in Student & Campus Life that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing as directed by his or her supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.). Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
