Iron Worker Position
We are seeking an experienced Iron Worker to perform a combination of duties that include dismantling, raising, placing, repairing, and uniting girders, columns, and other structural-steel members to form complete structural frameworks. Candidates should be confident working at height, skilled with hand tools and welding equipment, and comfortable reading and working from blueprints. Note: THC use is not permitted Must pass an extensive background check Completion of a 7-hour unpaid safety training course is required before hire Responsibilities Include
- Set up hoisting equipment to raise and place structural steel members - Fasten steel members using chains, cables, or ropes - Signal hoist operators to lift and position steel components - Guide and align steel members into final position using tag lines, turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools - Align and bolt steel members, verify alignment using plumb bobs and levels - Use impact wrenches to tighten bolts and nuts - Cut and weld steel members using oxyacetylene equipment - Use a transit to locate reference points - Assemble and erect ladders and scaffolding for large assemblies
