Remote Billing Specialist-Collections Specialist

NECS is currently seeking a full-time remote Monday-Friday Billing Specialist-Collections Specialist to join our professional billing team. The Billing Specialist-Collections Specialist is responsible for collecting patient balances in the form of payment plans, patient reach out, billing statements, and the collections process. Essential duties and responsibilities: Review, monitor, and manage patient account balances to ensure timely resolution of outstanding patient balances. Completes collections outreach, contacting patients by phone, letter, and electronic communications to collect outstanding balances in a professional, compassionate, and compliant manner. Negotiate and set up patient payment plans in alignment with NECS policy and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the eligibility, billing, and front-end teams in insurance and demographic verification to confirm coverage and contact information to prevent and resolve discrepancies contributing to patient balances. Document all patient interactions and collection efforts in the billing system/HER in a clear, complete, and compliant manner. Track collection activity and progress toward monthly/quarterly collection goals; communicate status reports as requested. Provide a high level of service to patients and families by responding promptly to billing questions, investigating concerns, and ensuring issues are resolved to the patient level or understanding when possible. Draft, issue, and track settlement offer letters for eligible patient balances, ensuring accuracy, compliance with NECS policies, and proper documentation of patient acceptance. Travel: Rare Must live within an hour driving distance to one of our clinics Required experience: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of two years medical billing experience preferred Candidates must be able to work in a high volume environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy. Working knowledge of EOBs, EFTs, and ERAs Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred Strong oral and written communication skills Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision Strong customer service skills Must be familiar and compliant with HIPAA patient confidentiality.
