Life Sciences Underwriter
Chubb is seeking a motivated individual to join the Life Sciences practice for the Pacific South Region. The position can be based in Los Angeles (downtown), Irvine, or San Diego. The ideal candidate is someone who's an excited learner, strong self-starter, and willing to teach and collaborate with the team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in managing a book of commercial middle market business and make a significant impact on our success. Responsibilities: Underwrite and thrive: Profitably underwrite new lines and renewals. Renewal book of $5M to $8, and a new business production goal of $1.5M+ annually. Drive financial performance: Maximize profit, growth, rate optimization, retention, and cross-sell opportunities for Life Science accounts. Be the expert: Solicit accounts, analyze risks, price coverage, and sell industry-specific products and services to new and existing customers. Navigate multiple lines: Manage commercial package, product liability, automobile, umbrella, workers compensation, and international lines. Skills and Competencies: Master the craft: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of commercial underwriting with a keen ability to analyze risks, strategize underwriting approaches, prioritize data gathering, and communicate your well-thought-out plans effectively. Technical expertise: Showcase your proficiency in handling Life Science business, backed by solid analytical skills and financial analysis capabilities. Relationship wizard: Leverage your outstanding interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to interact effectively at all levels
both internally and externally. Your ability to build strong relationships will drive meaningful results. Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (e.g. STEM, Biology, or Lab work is a plus) Multi-line or Life Sciences products underwriting experience is preferred The pay range for the role is $85,000 to $130,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
