Part-Time Recreation Activity Leader I
Come join Juneau Parks and Recreation working with the team at the Treadwell Arena! We are looking to fill a Part-Time Recreation Activity Leader I position. Under general supervision and with detailed guidelines, assists in the operation, programming, and administration of the Treadwell Arena. The Treadwell Arena staff is a small group of dedicated individuals, and we are looking for a team player to join our crew. Ideally, we would like an individual who is interested in providing excellent customer service and assisting with recreational programming at a favorite recreational facility. This position works a varied schedule (Monday through Sunday) 5:30am-midnight at Treadwell Arena in Douglas. Typical Responsibilities
Opens and closes the facility as scheduled Assists with customer service duties such as answering phones, emails, collecting fees, responding to customer questions/complaints and distributing recreational equipment Sharpens ice skates Submits daily facility reports, accident/incident reports, equipment condition reports and other reports required Inputs data and registration and scheduling software systems and generates reports Monitoring and ensures safety of all participants in on-ice and off-ice activities including public & private skating/hockey sessions and special events for all ages Assists with enrolling participants in programs and classes, facility scheduling, registration, and event bookings Enforces facility safety procedures and rules for participants and spectators Inspects facility and equipment for cleanliness and safe conditions Ensures the ice is cleared after each session and moves hockey nets for driver when needed Administers basic first aid and CPR as needed Performs other related work as required Minimum Qualifications
Licensure: CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment Other: Not less than 18 years of age at time of appointment Note: Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
