Mortgage Field Services Inspector
role at
FAR INSPECTIONS

Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties, so they send independent contractors to verify occupancy. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county, sometimes splitting the county with another inspector if there is enough volume.
Responsibilities
Inspect most common type within 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be able to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate varying by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30-$40 per hour. Depending on county and urban/rural status you will complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections per month working 2-30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
