Professional Dog Bather – Best Friends Pet Care
Join our team of pet bathers in our busy salons, focusing on bathing dogs of all sizes and temperaments to ensure they look their best. Additional responsibilities include brushing, trimming nails, and performing add-on services.
Job Duties / Essential Functions Our pet bathers are an integral part of the team, ensuring that dogs receive high‑quality grooming while maintaining a safe, hygienic environment.
Responsibilities
Constantly ensures the safety, security, and well‑being of each pet; handles pets at all times with skill and care.
Consults with customers and complies with all requests to ensure satisfaction; interacts warmly and professionally.
Maintains all records—including Daysheets, Worksheets, and Pet Reports—in a neat, orderly manner.
Practices timeliness—starts shifts on time and finishes grooming before the promised time.
Conscientiously performs all aspects of the grooming service to Best Friends expectations of quality.
Uses established procedures to groom all pets according to customer requests.
Works in an organized and hygienic manner; keeps the work area free of hair and clutter and sanitizes tools between pets.
Understands the purpose of products and uses them appropriately; reports stock levels to assist inventory management.
Treats equipment and tools with care and assists with simple maintenance; reports mechanical failures in writing.
Interacts with managers and center staffing to ensure smooth salon operations and high service quality.
Interacts well with fellow employees and follows managerial directives.
Maintains a high level of productivity while ensuring safety and quality; accepts additional grooms when possible.
Mentors, guides, trains, and coaches new associates when requested; participates in “Buddy Training.”
Suggessts beneficial add‑on services and retail to customers.
Promotes grooming services by attracting new customers and encouraging referrals, using provided street‑marketing tools.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds.
Must be able to stand on feet for eight hours per day.
Must be able to walk, climb stairs frequently.
Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets.
Displays a professional manner at all times.
Education
High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Preferred, not essential.
