Summary The Certified Recreation Therapist role is responsible for organizing and conducting recreational-based treatment programs when function is impaired by psychiatric illness or disability. Programs include the use of purposeful and leisure-based activities to assist patients in improving their physical, social, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required.
License/Certifications: C.T.R.S. Certified as administered by the NCTRC required.
Experience: Two years of psychiatric experience preferred, one of which is with the age population served.
