NDT Inspector - Senior (PAUT): On-Site at VUG - Houston Valmont Industries, Inc. is looking for an experienced NDT Inspector - Senior (PAUT) to work onsite at our Houston facility (Valmont-United Galvanizing), reporting to the Brenham, TX location.

Job Responsibilities

Evaluate the assembly of fabricated materials through dimensional checks, visual inspection of welds, and nondestructive testing (ultrasonic, magnet particle, liquid penetrant).

Perform additional NDT methods such as phased array, eddy‑current, and radiography.

Coordinate the quality area to meet production goals and maintain workflow with the production supervisor.

Complete daily paperwork and maintain accurate NDT reports and records.

Demonstrate inspection proficiency for customer and third‑party auditors.

Communicate within the work group to ensure teamwork and a productive environment.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma with 7+ years of related experience; or Associate’s Degree with 5+ years; or Bachelor’s Degree.

3+ years of experience in a fabricated steel environment.

Level II NDT certifications, including Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Certification (PAUT).

Basic mathematical skills, including fraction to decimal conversion.

Proficiency with measuring tools: tape measure, calipers, fillet weld gauges, and levels.

Ability to operate NDT testing equipment.

Effective teamwork with plant employees, supervisors, management, and customers.

Prioritization skills to meet deadlines with minimal assistance.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Highly Qualified Candidates (Additional)

10 years of experience in a fabricated steel environment.

Associate Degree in NDT from an accredited school.

SNT‑TC‑1A NDT Level II in UT, VT, MT, and PT.

AWS SCWI certification.

Proficient in basic quality assurance disciplines, including dimensional inspection and gauging equipment.

Additional AWS professional certifications.

Passion and integrity with a drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Essential Functions

Test and evaluate products to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications.

Make decisions on codes, including AWS D1.1, and interpret NDT reports for acceptance or rejection.

Mentor Entry and Intermediate level NDT Inspectors, monitoring OJT progress.

Perform metallurgical testing: weld coupon testing, positive material identification, and macro examination.

Maintain advanced inspection certifications, such as AMPP (NACE) CIP or Phased Array UT, if required.

Possess the authority to reject material, stop work in process, and minimize financial loss and customer dissatisfaction.

Operate accurately within production time limits.

Maintain essential tools and equipment, including calibration.

Participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.

Maintain timely and consistent attendance.

Working Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment requiring movement throughout office, shipping, and production areas. Employees are exposed to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, and noise levels above 80 dB. Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 lbs (most often 20 lbs), reaching, standing, walking, and balancing. Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Opportunity for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year & 2 years
