Responsibilities What You'll Get To Do:

Manage and direct the activities of Area Sales Managers in their assigned region.

Hire, train, and ensure performance of independent manufacturer representatives, with emphasis on key specification markets and corporate targets.

Create pull‑through business by developing Panasonic specifications through builders and specifiers for new construction, remodel, and renovation projects.

Manage Area Sales Managers and Independent Sales Representatives, facilitating calls on sales channel partners, installers, contractors, engineers, specifiers, and architects within an independently planned sales program.

Maintain clear, complete, and accurate records of all contacts and potential business as requested by the National Sales Manager.

Actively manage distribution channels within the territory under company guidelines.

Develop plans and propose promotional activities tailored to the territory’s needs.

Ensure superior customer satisfaction in the region, including for end‑users of Panasonic products and services.

Gather construction data, analyze potential, and research viability of opportunities. Position Panasonic with key decision makers at specifiers and corporate accounts.

Deliver sales and profit targets for the defined region and develop demand forecasts used in the PSI process.

Travel 50%–60% of the time from a home‑based office.

Scope

Reports to the National Sales Manager Wholesale.

Sets sales targets and demand forecasts for the region.

Manages sales expenses within budget.

Identifies independent Sales Representative companies and proactively addresses challenges with channel partners.

Develops joint sales plans and execution criteria with Area Sales Managers.

Participates on new product development teams as a sales representative for channels.

Requires residence in the target region with easy access to a major airport.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

3–5 years of experience directly managing a sales team, including experience with independent manufacturing representatives in the wholesale construction materials industry.

Broad knowledge of distribution strategies and hands‑on tactical implementation.

Technical or hands‑on HVAC background highly desirable; otherwise, demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge quickly.

Deep knowledge of U.S. local building codes and future trends.

Highly competent with MS Office products and corporate business systems, with a demonstrated ability to master new skills.

Territory includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Western West Virginia.

Candidate must currently be located in Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Indianapolis, IN; or Detroit, MI.

Conveys best practices to contractors at all levels, encouraging use of Panasonic products and preferred installation methods.

Articulates problems and solutions in concise, accessible language appropriate for installers, contractors, distributors, specifying engineers, and architects.

Advanced skills in developing and delivering compelling solutions to close sales opportunities.

Fluency in English required; Spanish a plus.

Other Requirements

Carry sample product and merchandising displays into and out of customer locations, and frequently load/unload from car/van (able to carry 40 lbs unaided).

Set up custom displays for trade shows, perform assembly and wiring of POP displays.

Negotiate construction sites unaided and demonstrate product installation when necessary.

The wage range of \$135,000 – \$155,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range or the minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
