Deli Clerk

Job Description The Deli Clerk will obtain requested deli or bakery items for customers, wrap or package items, and use the cash register to total orders, accept payment, and make change. Duties include frying chicken, preparing jo jo's, burritos, and other hot foods, putting chicken on the rotisserie oven for baking; making sandwiches, salads, pizzas, popcorn, cotton candy; slicing meats or cheese on a slicer; and slicing bread and packaging bakery products. The clerk will also stock and clean deli and bakery areas as needed.

Essential Functions

Use hand, arms, and fingers to handle tools or operate power equipment.

Work in a standing position for 4–8 hours per day.

Use good suggestive selling techniques to educate customers about bakery and deli products.

Locate products for customers, prepare them to desired request, price, label, and package.

Cook chicken, burritos and other hot foods; make sandwiches, salads, pizzas, popcorn, cotton candy.

Slice meats, cheeses, ladle salads; obtain doughnuts, pastries, cakes from cases for customers.

Use store intercom to alert customers of bakery/deli products.

Keep work stations clean and sanitary.

Restock products and garnish as needed.

Receive money and make change.
