About Worcester Country Club
Worcester Country Club is most known for being the Home of the First Ryder Cup in 1927. Additionally the club has hosted the US Open in 1925 where Willie MacFarlane defeated Bobby Jones in the first 36-hole playoff after Bobby Jones in what later became recognized as a defining moment in the game of golf, called a penalty on himself when he announced his ball moved on the 11th hole. The club also hosted the 1960 United States Women's Open won by Betsy Rawls.
All three symbolic trophies are proudly displayed at the club honoring our treasured history in the game of golf.
Work Life Balance The Professional Staff all work together and are granted 2 weekends off between Memorial Day and Labor Day. This is a collaborative, team effort to strategically target certain weekends that benefit the individuals on our team, while ensuring the standards of the operation are being met. Additionally, professionals have a set schedule each week with two days off per week, outside of major event weeks where six days may be required.
Career Advancement The club is committed to fostering career growth for the assistant golf professionals who desire to advance in the golf industry. This individual will be given extensive training towards a Senior/First Assistant position and working towards achieving a Head Professional position.
Gil Hanse Project The fall of 2023 brought world renowned architect Gil Hanse and his team to oversee a golf course renovation project which mainly includes bunker improvements and some exciting enhancements to an already reputable golf course ranked #9 in Massachusetts by Golf Digest. In 2025 Worcester CC will host the Mass Golf Senior Amateur.
PGA PGM Graduating Seniors Students looking to complete their final 7-month internship will be considered for this Assistant Golf Professional position.
Experience Required This individual should have aspirations to work and progress amongst the team for 2-4 years depending on experience.
Prior experience at a private club is preferred but not essential.
A proven team player with references to support being a vital part of a team.
Ideal candidate would have experience with Golf Genius, a passion for Junior Golf, and a strong attention to detail with coordinating a robust schedule of mens, ladies, mixed, and junior tournaments.
Experience with teaching, club fitting, and playing golf are all at the utmost importance of the position.
Essential Responsibilities Class A Member of PGA or Level II Associate preferred. Level I associates may be considered if considerable progress within their education is shown.
The Assistant Professional is expected to be honest, loyal, and consistent, and able to work alongside the Head Professional and fellow Assistant Professionals to deliver an exceptional member and guest experience in compliance with the Policies and Procedures put forth by the Head Golf Professional.
Golf Genius tournament software experience. Willing and eager to coordinate any men's, ladies, mixed, or junior golf event with support from the Senior Assistant Professional and the entire team.
Manage the 1st tee using Whoosh Tee Time Software at a busy, no tee time facility.
Assist with the execution of a dynamic junior golf program.
Monitor daily play on the course in conjunction with the club's four hour pace of play guidelines.
Basic skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and Publisher.
Hospitality-minded individual.
Adaquete player who enjoys playing with members of all different abilities.
Assist with a large caddie program including Spring Training sessions.
Heavily involved with all aspects of the merchandise including special orders, inventory management, organization, and assisting with the buying.
Willingness to support and assist with all areas of the operation at anytime as needed including the outside service team.
