The Product Strategy team is a part of Oaktree’s Business Development organization with responsibility for coordinating the process by which Oaktree builds, markets, and services its investment strategies. Product specialists serve as representatives and subject matter experts for Oaktree’s strategies and products, partnering closely with the capital formation and investment teams to drive growth and deepen client engagement.

Responsibilities This role will be aligned to Oaktree’s Global Private Debt strategies and the candidate will be expected to develop subject matter expertise regarding our strategies’ investment approach, areas of focus and portfolios. This individual will work in close partnership with Oaktree’s capital formation and private credit investment teams to:

Perform market demand assessments, shape fundraising strategy, launch new products, and lead the development and ongoing enhancement of the strategy’s collateral suite.

Attend investment team meetings and spend considerable time with the portfolio manager(s) of the strategy.

Serve as a subject matter expert on the strategy’s approach, markets, sustainability integration, competitors, portfolio composition and performance.

Support clients and prospects with product-related inquiries and articulate current positioning and outlook.

Design, create and manage product reporting and collateral suite for internal and external consumption.

Own technical product-related investor requests and liaise with investment and diligence teams.

Lead product-related investor calls, meetings and new business development pitches.

Provide internal training and resources to the capital formation team detailing market opportunity and fund strategy.

Ensure all communications are fully compliant with industry regulations and firm standards.

Product Development

Conduct market research and demand assessments on current and prospective product offerings.

Partner with capital formation, investment professionals, and internal stakeholders to explore new product ideas, bespoke client solutions, or new investor channels.

Lead the formation and oversight of separate accounts designed to achieve client needs and objectives.

Develop internal materials or analysis to support new product ideas.

Qualifications

7-10 years of relevant experience, preferably within investment banking, institutional asset management or consulting; client-facing experience required.

2+ years in a client-facing product specialist role.

Deep understanding of credit and broader financial markets.

Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the legal, accounting, compliance and investment aspects of the investment products offered by Oaktree.

Highly resourceful and exercise superior judgment regarding investor requests.

Proven ability to interact directly with clients, portfolio managers and senior leadership; high service-orientation.

Experience operating a function and/or designing or improving processes.

Fluency with MS Office suite for creating client-facing and internal deliverables.

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working collaboratively as part of a team.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

FINRA licenses (Series 7 and 63) or ability to acquire licenses in a compressed timeframe.

Education Bachelor’s degree (major in Finance, Business, Marketing, Communications or related field preferred). MBA, CFA or other recognized advanced credentials a plus.

Base Salary Range $190,000 - $225,000.

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
