Position Summary The Child Life supports the emotional well‑being and healthy development of pediatric patients and their families. This role provides therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and coping support while collaborating closely with the medical team to enhance the overall patient experience.
What You Will Do
Assess emotional, developmental, and recreational needs of pediatric patients and families.
Provide therapeutic activities, diversion, and developmentally appropriate preparation for diagnostic, treatment, and procedures.
Communicate and allocate patient needs and observations with the care team; participate in care conferences and daily rounds.
Deliver excellent customer service by prioritizing patient comfort, family‑centered care, and timely communication.
Maintain safe, clean play areas and manage program resources responsibly.
Support and guide volunteers, students, and community groups.
Engage in professional development and represent the program at workshops as needed.
Shift:
Four 10‑hour shifts, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM, Monday–Saturday (Saturday rotation: once every 3 weeks).
Areas Covered:
Burn Unit, Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Outpatient Clinics, and other pediatric outpatient services including Hematology and Oncology.

What You’ll Need Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
Required: Less than 1 year of related experience. Preferred: 1–2 years of experience.
Licensure/Certifications:
Preferred: Basic Life Support (CPR). Child Life Certification eligible or Certified Child Life Specialist (must obtain within 6 months of hire).
Pay Range:
$20.02 – $31.03 per hour.
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
