Sous Chef – Compass One Healthcare

Schedule:
5 days per week, rotating AM and PM shifts. The AM shift is 6am–3:30pm, PM shift is 10:30am–8pm. Every other weekend (hours are generally 9am–5:30pm). Every other holiday.
Salary:
$55,000–$60,000

Job Summary The Sous Chef is responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department for a healthcare facility in St. Louis. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items, and their preparation and garnishment. You may supervise around 11 hourly associates per shift and work with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. This role is ideal for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus.
Produce and execute catering events.
Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with company marketing and culinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree (A.S.) or equivalent experience.
Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience.
Experience in catering, high-volume, complex foodservice operations – institutional and batch cooking experience is helpful.
Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, email, internet).
Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities.
ServSafe certification – highly desirable.
