Postdoctoral Fellow (PF)
The
Postdoctoral Fellow (PF)
conducts translational and clinical research at Nemours, in a unique scientific training environment to improve children’s health. The Postdoctoral Fellow engages in research under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. The PF designs, organizes, and conducts experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures. In some cases, PF participates in designing new protocols, independently monitors results, responds to unusual outcomes/errors, and considers continuous improvements. Performs statistical analysis as needed. PF will summarize findings and work with PI to publish results in research journals. Contributes significantly to grant proposals, supports scientific operations of the laboratory, and provides guidance to research assistants, students, and junior researchers.
Primary Functions
Read and interpret peer-reviewed publications for application to current methodologies and advance research.
Prepare presentations for scientific meetings, describing research methodology and results; prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals; and prepare grant applications.
Prepare documents for obtaining / renewing regulatory committee approvals including IBC, IRB, IACUC, RRAC, HSRSS as appropriate.
Establish and update policies and lab SOPs.
Understand and demonstrate safe use and operation of lab equipment.
Understand and refine Nemours safety policies, procedures and ensure all lab safety requirements are met.
Engage in and actively follow the five Nemours Associate Core Competencies - Cultural Stewardship; Relationship Management; Commitment to Improvement and Quality; Effective Communication and Champions Change.
Complete annual Nemours mandatory training as assigned.
Perform additional miscellaneous lab duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by associate's supervisor.
Experience with animal related work, various molecular and cell biology research, working with primary cells specifically T cells.
Experience in transcriptome and single cell sequencing analysis is a plus
