The Training Specialist will work closely with trainees to assess their needs, set development goals, and provide hands-on coaching in both soft and technical skills. They will deliver individualized or group coaching sessions focused on skill-building (e.g., communication, job readiness, safety standards, etc). Facilitate in car and classroom training sessions and track performance, give constructive feedback, and determine readiness for skills assessments. The Training Specialist will possess strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a commitment to promoting road safety and driver confidence. It is important to maintain a high level of professionalism and responsibility when helping learners acquire new knowledge or skills, and ensuring they are well-equipped to apply what they’ve learned in real-world situations. Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle Consistently demonstrate situational awareness and understanding of the technology in their care; adjust to changes in the environment Be the deputy for technology by communicating courteously with management, engineers, and the public Operate with safety as the primary goal Conduct classroom sessions and training presentations weekly for new-hires and for employees selected for upskilling programs Conduct classroom sessions and training presentations as needed for new operators as part of the defensive driving and manual driving training and assessment program Assist in creating and maintaining a training program and materials Act as a mentor, providing career or academic advice when applicable Answer questions, address concerns, and provide resources for further learning Orchestrate training for multiple trainees at the same time, inside and outside of a vehicle Standardize and maintain consistent training practices across the organization Participate in weekly meetings with managers and peers for training improvement discussions; participate in daily meetings with peers on shift to discuss trainees’ performance evaluation Welcome and onboard new-hires with a positive attitude and in a professional manner Practice a firm yet understanding teaching style to accommodate different learning styles Respond quickly to changing and potentially high-pressure environments Set the tone and example for less experienced employees Participate in operational missions to maintain best practices and updates about autonomous vehicles Comply with Transdev’s Autonomous Vehicle Division zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol or drugs by self-driving vehicle operators during a shift All other duties as assigned Required Education and Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience driving on public roads; additional experience is preferred High School Diploma or GED required; four-year college degree (preferred) in a related field like industrial or applied sciences Minimum 3 months operating and testing autonomous vehicle required Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficiency with a laptop computer and G Suite apps (Gmail, Hangouts, Drive, Sheets and Docs) Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred but not required) Good attention to detail and ability to quickly and concisely describe thoughts Ability to respond quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios Adapt quickly to new and developing technology Cross-functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation Ability to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and travel up to 30% of the time Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated with good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments Physical Requirements
Long periods of standing, walking, and sitting Use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders Occasionally reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Most work is accomplished outdoors in a vehicle Pre-Employment Requirements
