1 SUMMARY

Performs the duties of an armed peaceofficer. Conducts field investigations and provides armed vehicularand foot patrol within jurisdiction. Patrols assigned areas,furnishes police protection to students, staff, visitors and the Collegecommunity. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are notlimited to: Gathersand reports intelligence-related information in reference to the PublicSafety Officer’s assigned campus. Providesprotection for persons and property. Respondsto calls for assistance in life threatening, emergency and service relatedsituations. Observesand investigates criminal activity and other incidents or conditionsjeopardizing the safety and security of the community. Conductsfiled investigations, initiates and executes detentions. Makesarrests, issues citations, writes reports, and obtains warrants. Transportsprisoners to jail or to a juvenile facility. Testifiesin a court of law. Controlscrowds and controls/directs traffic. Enforcesstate and federal law, local ordinances, College policies andorganizational regulations. Completesnecessary administrative forms/reports as required. Admitsauthorized personnel to locked buildings during secure hours. Furnishesescort service and transports visitors, guests, staff and students asneeded. Makesauthorized off-campus pickups and deliveries. Providesdirections and other information to College personnel, students, visitors,and/or the general public. Maintainslicenses and certifications as required by federal and state regulations,and College policies and procedures. Presentscitizen training programs and in-service workshops as directed. Meetsall job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards thatpertain to the essential functions of the position. Accessesand utilizes College prescribed software programs including, but notlimited to, training, email and payroll information. Performsother related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellentinterpersonal and public speaking skills, good note taking and reportwriting. Musthave good physical ability, aptitude and policing skills. Mustbe able to maintain proficiency with a semi-automatic handgun and otherrequired weapons. Skillsin keyboarding, basic math and grammar, and basic or standard wordprocessing (MS Word) and/or spreadsheet applications (MS Excel). Proficiencywith an email software package (MS Outlook) and the Internet. Musthave current certifications in First Aid and CPR. Mustobtain certifications in AED, Awareness of HazMat, Weapons of MassDestruction, and Personal Awareness Protection Equipmentwithin the first 90 days of employment. Mustbe able to meet the College insurability requirements. Musthave sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population. Mustbe a citizen of the U.S. Mustbe at least 21 years of age. Abilityto satisfactorily complete a thorough background investigation, policephysical agility test, written cognitive assessment, firearmsqualification, physical examination, polygraph or voice stress analysisand psychological evaluation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associatedegree in Law Enforcement or related field. Lawenforcement work experience as a police officer equivalent to a minimum ofthree (3) years full-time or six (6) year part-time experience. Previouslaw enforcement experience in a university or college setting. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to regularly sit, reach with handsand arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste and smell. Must be able to frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, climb orbalance, and talk or hear. Must be able to lift more than 50 poundswithout assistance. Special vision requirements include color andperipheral vision. Must be able to occasionally work in wet or humidconditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places,work with fumes, airborne particles, toxics, caustic chemicals orbio-hazards. Must be able to regularly work in outdoor weatherconditions. Must be able to work in an environment with a quietnoise level. DISCLAIMER
