Responsibilities As a Deli Clerk, you will help customers make healthy food choices by preparing “fresh and easy meals” and providing a high level of customer service in one of our most popular departments. You will arrange vegetables or sliced meats for our famous made‑to‑order sandwiches or help a customer with their catering order, serving customers with knowledge of our meats, cheeses, and other deli items. You must maintain food safety standards, manage high standards, and have opportunities for growth to learn more about products, equipment, and become a customer service expert. Qualifications
Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience in grocery, restaurant, or related field, or acceptable combination of education and experience.
Be dependable and reliable.
Show outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers.
Work a flexible schedule; nights, weekends, holidays included.
Have good communication skills; take direction and participate in a team.
Answer phones and take special orders.
Lift/carry product weighing up to 70 lbs., from 4” to 60”, distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours.
Stand continuously for up to 4 hours, total of 8 hours per shift.
Perform general housekeeping; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer).
Operate slicer, wrapping, cooking equipment; maintain safety.
Adhere to safety, health, and Weights & Measures regulations; maintain Food Handlers permit.
Work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer).
Other related duties as assigned.
