The Loss Prevention Safety Specialist provides customer service and a hands-off approach at Goodwill SoCal locations. Responsibilities include monitoring surveillance systems, securing buildings, providing reception and informational services, creating reports, and assisting in emergencies. This role reports incidents to the Regional Loss Prevention Representative with high alertness, responsibility, and confidentiality, greets customers, prevents shoplifting through excellent customer service, and assists in emergency situations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide alert, professional assistance to the Loss Prevention team in protecting facilities, assets, staff, and guests. Deliver excellent customer service to all employees and guests. React effectively and professionally to assistance requests. Prepare incident reports, Daily Activity Reports, emails, and other required documentation. Assist the Regional Loss Prevention Managers with special projects and assignments. Perform daily operational duties: greet customers, focus on high shrink areas, de-escalate shoplifters and aggressive customers, assist with trespassing, respond to emergencies, assist in evacuations, monitor surveillance cameras, report safety hazards and incidents. Report serious incidents promptly to appropriate parties. Handle difficult or aggressive individuals professionally. Assist in leading and organizing Loss Prevention Ambassadors. Support administrative duties and projects as required. Education & Experience At least 1 year of Loss Prevention and/or Security experience. High school diploma or GED required. Strong communication skills, including report writing and liaising with law enforcement. Basic computer skills in Windows environment (Word, Excel, Teams, Email). Knowledge of surveillance systems (Verkada, Transcendent, Blue Iris, or similar). Valid driver’s license and auto insurance; willingness to travel. Flexible shifts and overtime availability. Ability to handle confidential information and work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and strong work ethic.
