The District Police Officer is responsible for handling law enforcement and police-related matters at District facilities as outlined in the Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedures, District’s Board Policy, Management Guidelines, Departmental Rules and Regulations, and as directed by the Chief of Police. The officer works cooperatively with school administration, students, staff, other District police officers, and law enforcement agencies to maintain campus security and a safe environment. All employees are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate respectfully, champion students' needs, and pursue continuous improvement. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Texas Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCOLE) Valid Texas driver’s license Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing, and criminal laws Good judgment under potentially dangerous conditions Training and ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs Bonded as required by Texas Education Code 37.081 Ability to pass physical, psychological, and drug tests Ability to work well with youths and adults Willingness to work during disasters or emergencies as directed Major Responsibilities and Duties
Patrol the District and provide police services Operate a District vehicle to deter criminal activities Investigate criminal offenses within the District Enforce regulations on District school buses Investigate suspicious persons and report misuse of District property Enforce Texas laws within the District jurisdiction Assist with traffic control and emergency situations Prepare incident reports Provide police services at District events Establish positive relationships with students, staff, and community Work overtime as assigned Additional Details
