Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to work under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Kwon. The position focuses on advancing cutting-edge multiscale and hybrid modeling—integrating first-principles simulations with machine learning—for chemical and biological applications.
Responsibilities
Design and implement models ranging from molecular to process scales.
Develop model-predictive control and optimization strategies.
Run high-performance numerical experiments and analyze data.
Communicate findings through journal publications and conference presentations.
Mentor students and collaborate across disciplines to translate research into real-world impact.
Qualifications
Required Education: PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Proficiency in mechanistic modeling and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C++).
Desired Experience: 3 years of prior research experience on multiscale modeling, hybrid modeling, and model-based control or related fields.
Location and Details
Location: CBEC (0248).
Position Type: Term (Fixed Term).
Scheduled Hours: 40.
Shift: First Shift.
Additional Information
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.
