Job Summary: Provides for the safety of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. Additionally, this position is responsible for the security ofSWOSUbuildings and property by preserving law and order and enforcing regulations.These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Description of Job Duties: Enforce laws including federal and state statutes andSWOSU regulations Prevent crime and protect property onSWOSU lots, buildings, and surrounding area Control traffic: this includes but is not limited to issuing traffic citations for moving or parking violations to ensure a safe and smooth flow of traffic Routinely perform foot and mobile patrol to ensure security ofSWOSU lots, buildings, and property Assist individuals whose vehicles have become disabled Provide directions and assistance to campus visitors May assist in evacuation during fire and bomb threats and provide emergency first aid in the event of injury Report traffic, safety and/or security infractions to proper authorities Maintain a high degree of campus visibility. This involves projectingSWOSU and the Department, as well as their goals and mission in a positive and professional manner Serve as required onSWOSU committees Notify Supervisor, Director, Safety Coordinator, or Human Resources of any potentially dangerous equipment, practices, or violations of safety procedures Appropriate attendance and punctuality required Must be willing to and able to perform job related travel Must maintain a current and valid driver license Additional Responsibilities: Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment Assist in situations as called upon Other duties as assigned Terms of Employment: Employment at will Reports to Police Chief Safety and job-related trainings will be completed as instructed Wage to be established by SWOSU’s wage structure Lives within 15 mile/minute radius from SWOSU PD Must be willing to serve SWOSU for a two-year minimum About SWOSU: With locations in Weatherford, Yukon, Sayre, and online degree programs, SWOSU is one of the leading regional universities in the country.

Education and Experience: CLEET certification is preferred, but not required Minimum of one year of demonstrated success in law enforcement is preferred Good knowledge of traffic control procedures is required Must be able to pass a background check Must have a valid OK driver’s license Must have a GED/High school diploma Must not have a felony, domestic violence offense, or a crime against moral turpitude Good written, verbal, basic mathematical, and interpersonal skills are required Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or his/her designee may find appropriate Hiring Process Applicant will submit application online and will be contacted if selected for an interview Applicant will go through several interview stages Applicant will undergo a background check Applicant will be contacted to complete a physical agility test. A completed medical release is required prior to testing. A complete description of the physical fitness requirements is available in the application packet. Applicants should wear appropriate clothing for the physical fitness test. Certified Officers are not required to take the written test but do have to pass the Physical Fitness Test. Physician release must be completed prior to participation in the physical fitness test. No exceptions. Anticipated Start Date
