Location: Must be in the USA, preferably the Western US

Join a respected structural engineering firm with over 60 years of experience serving clients across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and California. As a Structural Engineer Project Manager, you’ll take the lead on a wide variety of mixed-use and podium projects. Key Responsibilities

Perform structural design calculations for gravity and lateral systems.

Lead the design and documentation of mixed-use and podium projects (steel, wood, and concrete combinations).

Develop clear, detailed, and accurate construction documents, plans, and details.

Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality assurance.

Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.

Collaborate with project engineers while mentoring and guiding their development.

Work independently as well as part of a collaborative team on shared projects.

Maintain proactive communication with internal teams, architects, owners, and project stakeholders.

Take ownership of projects, leading the technical direction without needing step-by-step guidance.

Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) license required.

7+ years of experience in structural design and project management.

Experience working and coordinating with architects and/or owners.

Experience in high seismic areas.

Experience with as many materials as possible: structural steel, masonry, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, wood, and cold-formed steel.

Project management experience (leading projects independently without managing staff).

Ability to work independently and proactively.

Proficiency in RISA (design software); RAM and Enercalc preferred.

Knowledge of CAD and Revit is a plus.

Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.

Demonstrates sound judgment — knows when to ask for help and when to take the lead.

Required Project Experience

Podium Structures: Lead the design of podium projects, typically 1–3 levels of concrete supporting 3–5 levels of wood or cold-formed steel framing above. Experience in podium projects is a strong selling point due to their complexity, including lateral load transfer, high seismic considerations, and mixed-material integration.

Schools, hospitals, higher education facilities, mixed-use developments, and multi-family residential projects.

Experience with high-rise, multi-family, or urban infill projects involving podium construction is highly valued.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $88,000 – $105,000 per year (based on experience)
