Police Officer Job Description
Salary can vary depending on certifications/qualifications: Police Officer $49,545.60 Police Officer I $51,563.20 Police Officer II $53,682.72 Senior Police Officer $55,910.40 Corporal $58,240.00 Performs protective service work involving a variety of general or support duty police assignments, under the immediate supervision of the Police Sergeant. Operate patrol vehicle to monitor violations, suspicious activities, and disturbances. Respond to dispatch calls, administer first aid. Serve warrants, make arrests, testify in court. Check security, respond to alarms. Use traffic radar, investigate accidents, direct traffic. Provide escorts for events, report unsafe conditions. Assist with investigations, preserve evidence, interview witnesses. Prepare detailed reports. Perform collateral duties such as investigations, animal control, etc. Perform related tasks as required. Qualifications: Possess B.L.E.T or State certification. High school diploma or GED. Minimum age of 20 years. Knowledge of police methods, city geography, and department regulations. Ability to understand and follow instructions, prepare reports. Courteous and firm public interaction skills. Ability to analyze situations and respond effectively. Skill in firearms use and vehicle operation. Ability to establish effective relationships with the public and colleagues. Meet and maintain training and experience requirements as per department and state standards. Physical and work environment requirements include exertion of force, speaking, hearing, using hands, and working outdoors in various conditions, including exposure to bloodborne pathogens and wearing protective gear.
