Estimator II - High Voltage

The Estimator must be capable of presenting their estimate to the leadership team, demonstrating high competency of all components and including backup supporting documentation to defend the estimate and the information used to assemble it. The Estimator will communicate clearly and confidently to leadership and all team members regarding the aspects of their estimate. They must work independently as part of a team, delegate work to estimators, and mentor them to improve their capabilities.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Estimate projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Work Procedures.
Attend weekly internal and external engineering, contracting, and pricing meetings to ensure all deliverables are being completed on time and to expectations.
Prepare high voltage bid estimates by gathering project drawings, specifications, and related documents.
Consult with vendors, subcontractors, and internal personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate high voltage estimates and resolve issues.
Review and compare high voltage bid proposals from vendors and subcontractors.
Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
Analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Confer with engineers, vendors and subcontractors to develop value engineering ideas to drive project design and economics.
Review project schedule; engineering, procurement, construction, and client deliverables. Utilize feedback from Project Engineering and Procurement on material lead times and design durations. Hold key stakeholders accountable to deliverable dates.
Coordinate with Estimating Manager and Contracts team to ensure that scope, schedule, and other exhibits match estimate.
Assist with risk reviews with Lead Estimator. Identify mitigation strategy for each identified risk. Develop opportunity log with lead estimator.
Present to leadership their own estimates and provide supervisory support for estimates prepared by their team.
Assist in generating and submitting proposal package for review.
Review the scope, schedule and price, and support LNTP’s as necessary with the Preconstruction Manager.
Assist in contract review process by working closely with the Lead Estimator and Preconstruction Manager to review the relevant exhibits.
Assist with transition from the Preconstruction phase to the Construction phase by transferring information gained to the Construction team, including review of contract terms, estimates, schedules, value engineering, subcontract review, and similar areas.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
Basic Qualifications
Prefer BS degree in a business or engineering disciplined program.
Preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience, 3-4 years preferred in estimating HV construction projects.
Working knowledge of estimating fundamentals.
Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make presentations to large, diverse groups.
Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (B2W or similar), take-off software (On-Screen Takeoff or similar), and scheduling software (Microsoft Project or similar).
Project Management proficiency: scheduling, cost management, client management.
