This position is an entry-level, non-sworn position in the Police Department. Incumbents are assigned to the Basic Peace Officer Academy and must pass all requirements to obtain the Basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certificate before becoming candidates for the sworn Police Officer position. Emphasis is on community-based policing, community relations, and collaborative problem solving. This classification is temporary; failure to complete the police academy will result in termination from employment. Attend and successfully complete a police academy to prepare for the position of Police Officer. Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED; some college coursework preferred. Age:

Must be 20 years old at application and 21 by appointment. Driver's License:

Must possess or obtain a valid California Class C driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Background Investigation:

Must pass a background check, polygraph, psychological exam, and fingerprint clearance. Must be free from conditions or biases that could affect duties. Must pass a physical exam, including drug screening, with specific vision and hearing requirements. Additional Requirements:
