Primary Duties
Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems under the direction and supervision of more senior engineers.
Work on both Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects of HV Substation design.
Other Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings; collaborate with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings based on national design standards, safety codes and project specifications.
Typical designs include one‑line diagrams, protection and control schematic development, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and substation grounding.
Occasional short‑term travel (1-5 days) and infrequent longer‑term travel may be required.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to obtain an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate within 12 months.
Electrical utility, consulting engineering, or similar substation design experience.
Experience with MicroStation & AutoCAD.
Familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP or EasyPower.
Local candidate preferred.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
