Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance, resolving breakdowns, installing and servicing fuel cells at customer sites, reporting breakdown events, ordering parts, and maintaining the systems. The role requires excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills due to frequent exposure to customers and operators.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fleet evaluations at specific sites.
Specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades.
On-call and emergency support for customers as needed.
Purchasing tools, equipment, and parts for customer service.
Troubleshooting and maintenance of high-pressure hydrogen storage, 480 VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquids, high pressure gas, and fueling systems.
Communicating with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support.
Providing feedback to regional service representatives on fuel cell performance and maintenance issues.
Administrative duties: incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and documentation.
Enforcing safety procedures at customer sites.
Travel as required; expected to drive safely and obey traffic laws.
Represent Plug Power professionally at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
Three (3) or more years of mechanical/electrical troubleshooting experience.
Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and safe vehicle operation.
Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted regularly.
Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
General mechanical aptitude required.
Computer and software skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Dynamic interpersonal skills and effective communication with diverse audiences.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Creativity in solving technical problems.
Ability to work independently.
Uncompromising dedication to quality.
Exceptional time management and multitasking.
Punctual and reliable.
Technician must provide own standard tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power.
Pay Rate:
$24.50 - $28.50 per hour
