Schedule : Full Time (Monday - Friday; 8 AM - 5 PM)
Pay : $26.71 - $33.38 per hour
Position Summary The Athletic Trainer (ATC) supports patient care efforts in the outpatient offices for the Department of Orthopedics. The practice has regular contact with patients from ten (10) years of age and older, with occasional contact with younger children. Working under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Service attending physicians.
Responsibilities
Greets and obtains patient histories.
Performs physical examinations and evaluates injuries.
Performs wound care and suture removal.
Applies casts and splints.
Provides patient education, both in office and on the telephone, when necessary.
Assists in billing and medical documentation.
Works closely with resident physicians and physician extenders.
Participates in research meetings and quality improvement projects.
Participates in outreach opportunities at local colleges, high schools, athletic competitions etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree; graduation from an accredited program for Athletic Training.
New York State licensure and certification (or eligibility) as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
Successful completion of a one (1) year internship in Athletic Training with reference.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Infection Control Training.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with billing practices.
Interest in musculoskeletal research.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
