One year of law enforcement experience. Experience substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university substitutes for one year of experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Possession of a current Louisiana driver’s license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. Applicants with a felony conviction or under indictment will be disqualified until legal disabilities are relieved. FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide police services by enforcing laws and campus regulations through foot and mobile patrols. LEVEL OF WORK:
Experienced. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General supervision from a higher-level police official. Other relationships may be approved by SCS. SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None. LOCATION OF WORK:
Statewide. JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Police Officer 1 by experienced duties. Differs from Police Officer 3 by the absence of lead responsibilities or involvement in complex operations. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Protects lives and property, enforces laws, investigates crimes. Provides first aid and emergency services. Investigates accidents, enforces parking and traffic laws, campus regulations. Conducts crime prevention, security, and traffic control programs. Maintains logs and monitors alarm systems and police radio frequencies. Operates police network computers and dispatches officers as needed.
