Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Payrate:
$16.74/Hr
The Housing Specialist Assistant (HSA) provides administrative support for the Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection process. Responsibilities include scheduling inspections, sending notifications, tracking progress, and updating relevant software systems. The HSA will interpret inspection results and communicate effectively with landlords, program participants, and internal staff to ensure a smooth and efficient process. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain organization, manage repetitive tasks, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, able to de-escalate tense situations, and possess a clear understanding of the unique needs of the clientele we serve.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Schedules housing unit inspections in accordance with HUD and the City of Virginia Beach Housing code specifications to assure unit’s compliance Public Housing program requirements.
Communicate with property owners concerning compliance with housing quality standards
Inspection reports as required.
Requires the ability to operate general office equipment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
Strong organizational and communication skills
Familiarity with property management software or similar systems
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with property management software or similar systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe PDF
Understanding of Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection procedures
Knowledge of HUD regulations, including the abatement process
