Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning duties for the hospital, clinic, and/or office, including walls, floors, equipment, bath areas, furniture, ceilings, elevators, staircases, windows and blinds, restrooms, vents, light fixtures using universal precautions and appropriate equipment. Responsible for maintaining confidential patient information. Responsibilities

Coordinates with the nursing staff and supervisor to prioritize cleaning of occupied rooms, check empty rooms, and attend to emergency cleaning for spills. Cleans patient rooms daily, damp mops or vacuums floors, and spot cleans stains. Dusts furniture, ledges, and bed tables, and removes debris. Empties, washes, and relines wastebaskets. Washes walls and windows. Uses appropriate chemicals and techniques when cleaning restrooms. Washes basins, commodes, tubs, and showers, checks and cleans mirrors, soap dishes, water pipes, and exterior surfaces. Dusts ledges, damp mops floors, and washes walls. Empties and relines wastebaskets. Replenishes toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap dispensers. Performs periodic cleaning of high ledges, ceilings, light fixtures, and vents. Cleans doors and parts of showers and commodes affected by mineral deposits. Dry and damp mops or machine scrubs corridors and elevator landings according to schedule. Sweeps stairwells and washes corridor and landing walls. As needed, bonnet cleans or extracts carpeted areas. Checks equipment condition upon sign out and cleans equipment upon return, reporting any maintenance needs. Assists with setup, hanging curtains, trash pickup, hazardous waste, and recyclable waste. Washes trash containers. Maintains all floors and carpets. Sets up meetings, hangs curtains, and checks equipment condition. Attends safety training and understands responsibilities related to safety, department safety, and specific hazards. Follows hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Works effectively as part of the team, promoting good relations and facilitating departmental goals. Demonstrates respect and professionalism towards patients, families, visitors, and staff to ensure a courteous environment. Maintains a positive attitude to enhance customer service. Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred (experience can substitute). Licenses and Certifications: Completion of ARH Housekeeping Orientation Program (32 hours) upon hire.
