Dining Room Manager Job Description Dining Room Manager – Assisted Living
Position Summary The Dining Room Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dining room in our assisted living community, ensuring residents receive exceptional service in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This role plays a vital part in enhancing residents’ quality of life by promoting dignity, independence, and hospitality during meal times.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure residents are greeted warmly and served respectfully, with attention to individual needs and preferences.
Coordinate with nursing and dietary staff to accommodate special diets, allergies, and texture-modified meals.
Monitor resident satisfaction and address concerns promptly and compassionately.
Dining Room Operations
Supervise meal service to ensure timeliness, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety standards.
Maintain an inviting dining atmosphere that supports the emotional and physical well-being of residents.
Implement infection control protocols and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
Hire, train, and manage dining room staff including servers and hosts.
Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations to promote professional growth and accountability.
Work closely with the Culinary staff and Nursing team to ensure seamless coordination of meal service.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to support a positive dining experience.
Participate in care plan meetings when needed to support resident nutrition and dining preferences.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or senior care certification preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in food service or hospitality management, ideally in assisted living or healthcare.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a passion for serving older adults.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and elder care regulations.
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions
Active environment with frequent resident interaction.
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment (up to 25 lbs).
