Lawry’s Restaurants is seeking experienced Line Cooks to join our dedicated kitchen team.

Job Details

Collaborate with the Chef/Sous Chef in producing, creating, and improving menu items.

Prepare and cook food for guests and co‑workers, portioning meats, fish, and produce as needed.

Prepare daily dishes such as sauces and soups.

Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies.

Maintain an organized and hygienic work area, including personal hygiene procedures.

Essential Functions

Consistently meet Lawry’s standards as an ambassador of the restaurant, inspiring WOW Factor service.

Comply with all employment policies, including accurate records of hours, breaks, and shift changes.

Respect and maintain Company property and assets.

Adhere to uniform and appearance standards.

Demonstrate safe work habits, especially knife handling.

Maintain a safe workplace by keeping work and dining areas clean and hazard‑free.

Operate all cooking and preparation equipment safely and according to manufacturer’s directions.

Follow approved food handling and sanitation procedures.

Follow quality control, weighing, inventory maintenance, and portion control guidelines for all protein cuts.

Communicate effectively with Dining Room Servers and coordinate the arrival of the beef cart.

Coordinate with Carvers, Managers, Chefs, Kitchen staff, and all co‑workers.

Receive deliveries and handle invoices per company procedures.

Unpack, inspect, store, and rotate food items using FIFO.

Set up and stock the beef cart for the meal period, ensuring adequate backup stock.

Keep tools, cutlery, machines, and cooking equipment in good working order.

Maintain a clean beef cart and grease‑free floor during business hours.

Perform graceful protein carvings and plate service without sacrificing quality or guest experience.

Operate the Posi ordering system efficiently.

Work efficiently, accurately, and quickly to expedite guests’ food orders.

Contribute to unit food cost goals through portion and waste control.

Assist other co‑workers and departments to ensure guest satisfaction.

Express and exchange ideas in spoken and written English at an above‑average level.

Demonstrate knowledge of Lawry’s Restaurants, including family history, locations, service hours, and diner benefits.

Explain menu items to assist guests in meal and dessert selections using engaging descriptions and sales techniques.

Demonstrate effective teamwork and cooperation with co‑workers, management, vendors, and suppliers.

Be dressed in clean, designated uniform and acceptable footwear, ready to start at the scheduled shift and work until the end unless authorized otherwise.

Assume other co‑workers’ duties during off‑peak hours when staff is reduced.

Attend all mandatory meetings, training, informational, and education sessions.

Report all damaged or malfunctioning fixtures and equipment promptly to the Manager on duty.

Report all accidents or unsafe conditions immediately to the Manager on duty.

Position Qualifications

Show confidence, energy, and enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance and friendly demeanor.

Have previous experience as a cook or food prep worker, with ability to use knives and carve meat properly.

Maintain satisfactory physical and mental health to perform job requirements and work with the public in compliance with foodservice health and safety regulations.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, within company policy.

Stand and walk for up to eight (8) hours per shift, push and pull at least 50 lbs of force without strain, and sustain repetitive motions of legs, feet, waist, back, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and fingers.

Lift, push, and control a fully loaded cart through dining rooms.

Be available and willing to work all scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Capable of multi‑tasking, leading, and communicating with others in spoken and written English at an above‑average level.

Work in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.

Have above‑average knife skills.

Establish rapport in conversational English consistent with an upscale dining atmosphere.

Possess basic math proficiency.

Wear required uniform.

Listen and follow instructions carefully.

Follow basic recipes.

Experience

At least two (2) years of previous experience as a Line Cook or Carver in a high‑end dining establishment is required.

Must be able to read scales.

Licenses/Certifications

Current Local/State Food Handler’s Training Certification as required.

Computer Skills

Basic familiarity with computers and calculators.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred. Some college or culinary education beneficial.

Hourly Rate

$20–$23 per hour.
