Overview The University of Wisconsin‑Platteville School of Agriculture is seeking an Assistant Enterprise Manager for the Pioneer Farm. The Assistant Enterprise Manager will work with staff, faculty, and students to meet the educational, research, and outreach goals of Pioneer Farm.

Key Responsibilities

Direct and perform day‑to‑day activities of the animal care facility, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Manage dairy, swine, beef, bull test, and crop enterprises, and oversee the manure separator and composting operations as needed.

Coordinate and train students and staff in feed and nutrient management, including application, distribution, equipment maintenance, and repair.

Maintain working knowledge of milking and feeding equipment to provide support and relief to enterprise managers.

Provide leadership and supervisory oversight of student employees: hiring, training, assigning work, managing performance, approving hours.

Work with Pioneer Farm staff and student labor to ensure production activities are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Assist faculty, staff, and university partners in coordinating academic, research, and outreach activities planned and hosted at Pioneer Farm.

Serve as a subject‑matter resource to unit leadership and campus partners on farm operations, animal care, and facility management.

Attend weekly meetings and maintain ongoing communication with Pioneer Farm staff regarding current and planned activities.

Assist in maintaining financial, production, and agronomic records as needed.

Monitor the unit/program budget, approve expenditures, and ensure funds are managed appropriately.

Qualifications Applicants should have a background in animal care, agricultural enterprise management, or related disciplines, along with knowledge of animal nutrition and milking or feeding equipment.
