Summary This is a full‑time position to be used to attend and successfully complete the Florida Comparative Compliance Course or the Florida Basic Police Recruit Academy, as appropriate in the police department’s field training program
Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities
Attend and successfully complete the Florida Comparative Compliance Course or the Florida Basic Police Recruit Academy, as appropriate
Successfully pass the State of Florida Police Officer Certification Examination
Participate in departmental training as requested
Performs any other related work as requested
Minimum Qualifications
A citizen of the United States
As least 19 years of age
High School Diploma or equivalent, and
Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license with clean driving record by the date of hire
Must have no convictions of any felony or any misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement or domestic violence.
Must have no dishonorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States.
Must be of good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
Special Qualifications/Preferences Additional Provision:
Any person selected for this position will be required to execute a sponsorship agreement and agree to reimburse the City for law enforcement academy expenses should employment cease prior to 36 months of employment as a certified police officer.
Any current employee who accepts the position of Police Trainee will continue to receive the same benefits that he/she was receiving prior to accepting the Police Trainee position.
Any current employee who accepts the position of Police Trainee will maintain her/his current employment status.
