Position Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Architecture team and play a key role in establishing our firm’s first in-house MEP practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions from concept through production.

Essential Functions

Design mechanical systems, components, and products using CAD software

Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs

Develop and test prototypes, evaluate performance, and implement design improvements

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and architects

Prepare technical reports, documentation, and specifications

Participate in lifecycle management, including concept development, prototyping, production, and support

Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and codes

Troubleshoot issues related to design, manufacturing, or product performance

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product design and engineering processes

Required Traits & Characteristics

Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools; BIM experience preferred

Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills

Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments

Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

10‑15+ years of experience in mechanical design

Professional Engineering (PE) license

Travel

Position based in Royal Oak or Southgate, Michigan

Travel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings will be required
