Opportunities The Rawlins Police Department offers many instructor roles and specialties such as K‑9 Officer, Firearms Instructor, Custody and Control Instructor, Bike Patrol, Drug Recognition Expert, Investigations, and School Resource Officer. Pay And Benefits

Hiring Bonus: $2,000 for new officers without prior experience and $3,000 for lateral officers.

Competitive Pay: Starting pay for a new officer is $58,323.20 a year. Lateral officers are highly encouraged to apply with starting wages dependent on experience. We offer increased rank pay and paid overtime. Officers are eligible for predetermined hourly increases for certifications and educational degrees.

Paid Insurance Premiums: The City of Rawlins pays all employee insurance premiums, saving $320 a month and $3,840 a year for a family.

Tuition Reimbursement: In addition to providing police and job‑related training, we value our employee’s education and willingness to improve their skills set and offer a tuition reimbursement program.

Pension: You are eligible for a 20‑year retirement at 50% of your top five earning years, 62.5% at 25 years, and 75% after 30 years.

No State Income Tax for residents of Wyoming.

Take‑Home Car Program: Each officer is assigned a take‑home patrol car.

Paid Academy: All new officers will attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy. The department pays for the academy tuition while also paying the officer’s salary.

Job Duties We are looking for dedicated police officers to perform various law enforcement duties and maintain public safety. The officer’s responsibilities include patrolling areas, responding to calls, investigating diverse incidents, arresting suspects, and preparing incident reports.

To be successful as a police officer, you should be in good physical condition to pursue suspects and remain level‑headed in stressful and dangerous situations. An outstanding officer should be intuitive and able to exercise sound judgment.

Enforce local, state, and federal laws.

Patrol assigned geographic zones and respond to calls.

Apprehend and transport suspects.

Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.

Gather and log evidence.

Write citations, deliver warrants, and testify in court.

Prepare and provide accurate reports documenting incidents and activities.

Respond to emergency and non‑emergency situations.

Prevent and investigate illegal activities, domestic disturbances, accidents, etc.

Requirements

21 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent.

U.S. citizen.

Strong moral character.

No felony or domestic violence convictions.
